Description
We have created a book for 5-7 year olds (first readers) that normalises breastfeeding in its illustrations, something that is still very rare today.
We want to promote healthy and safe behaviours to normalise breastfeeding among tomorrow’s parents. We called on illustrator Frédérique Métivier-Brunet, who has previously worked for the Ecomuseum Zoo, and a committee of authors made up of our volunteers.
It all started with volunteers who wanted a book for their children that better reflected their reality, something they couldn’t find on the market. Their children see their mothers breastfeeding, and the book allows them to see people around them who are also breastfeeding. Our organisation had already created a children’s book more than 20 years ago (Antoine becomes a big brother). Today, we wanted to normalise breastfeeding from an early age. All children can identify with our character. Our book can be read to young children, but it is also a book for early readers. The story takes place in Quebec, in an ethical zoo, with animals and settings that many children are familiar with.
Come and meet Alex, our main character, and his family.
