About the Network

The Nourri-Source network is a breastfeeding support movement in Quebec. Nearly 700 Nourri-Source breastfeeding support volunteer - spread across 9 regions of Quebec - welcome, inform and support mothers who have chosen to breastfeed their child, while respecting their choices and their rhythm.

Breastfeeding support volunteer

The Breastfeeding support volunteer are at the heart of the Nourri-Source network.

They are the first and foremore mothers who, having experienced breastfeeding, have chosen to volunteer to support other mothers in this experience. They offer personalized and continuous support from pregnancy to weaning, always respecting the choices and pace of each woman. All the breastfeeding support volunteer have completed a basic breastfeeding training and maintain their knowledge through continuous training.

  • Breastfeeding support volunteer

Paired with pre ou postnatal mothers, often refered to as filleule, the breastfeeding support volunteers offer personalized support adapted to the specific needs of each mother, by phone, email or text. Always respecting each woman's choices and pace, the breastfeeding support volunteers offer continuous support from pregnancy to weaning.

 

  • In-person or virtual group support

The breastfeeding support volunteers offer support, in person or virtually, at the breastfeeding drop-in centers and at the workshop organized in CLSC's and partner community organizations. These meetings allow mothers to break the isolation of the postnatal period, to engage with other mothers who are experiencing similar problems and learn about various subjetc related to the perinatal period.

 

  • Support via the Nourri-Source Facebook Forum

The Facebook Forum is a place of exchange, sharing and support in terms of breastfeeding. Administered by breastfeeding support volunteers, the Forum allows to get quick answers to specific questions related to breastfeeding.

 

  • Other services

Depending on the region, several services are offere: rental and sale of breast pumps, consultation with an IBCLC, hospital visit, support for fathers, etc.

  • The Routes du lait

The Routes du lait aims to normalize breastfeedingin public spaces, by creating supportive environments in commercial, public and community establishments. Easily recognizable by a sticker affixed to their windows, members establishments of the Routes du lait allo mothers to enter to breastfeed their child, without any obligation to purchase.
